Dress for Success Dallas Hosts “Your Hour, Her Power” Luncheon

A celebration of 23 trailblazing women making an impact in the community.

Dress for Success Dallas, the leading global nonprofit employment resource for women, recently honored 23 women leaders who are making an impact in their industries and beyond during its signature, “Your Hour, Her Power” luncheon. The event took place on March 23, 2023 at the Hiton Anatole. Laura Harris, Emmy Award-winning anchor of NBC 5, served as the emcee for the afternoon and in a surprise announcement, was named as the 23rd honoree.

“The significance and meaning of 23 is change, progress and growth, “ said Karen “KJ” Johnson, executive director of Dress for Success Dallas. “The extraordinary women honored represent the change that we aspire to be, the progress of not allowing our pasts to define or stall us from moving forward and the pain we must endure to grow and reach our maximum potential.”

The Dress for Success Dallas “Your Hour, Her Power” campaign and luncheon is inspired by the belief that when a woman has access to opportunities that can change her life for the better, she becomes powerful beyond measure. An inspiring afternoon, the event featured powerful and motivating words of wisdom delivered by honorees Dr. Chery Polote-Williamson, Hedy Popson, and Coach Demi Austin-Thomas. Additionally, Derick “DJ Astronaut” Abram created a lively atmosphere that enhanced the excitement and energy of the afternoon.

“The ‘Your Hour, Her Power’ luncheon shines the light on women who are breaking barriers and generational curses, while inspiring our clients to reach their fullest potential,” said Johnson. “The luncheon raised over $50,000 that will support the programs provided by Dress for Success Dallas designed to assist our clients end the cycle of poverty.”
