Ready, Set, Succeed. August signals the final stretch of summer and the exciting countdown to the first day of school—a fresh start, new routines, and growth. To help families launch the year with confidence, two local educators share practical tips for starting strong and keeping that momentum going.
“Students, began the year believing in yourselves, giving your best effort, and remembering that every challenge is an opportunity to grow. Parents, your encouragement, involvement, and consistent communication with your child and their school can make a lasting difference in their success. When students feel supported at home and school, they are empowered to learn confidently, overcome obstacles, and achieve their goals.”

“When families and schools work together, a student is bound to have a great school year. One of the best ways parents can support their children is by staying involved. Volunteer when you can, attend school events, and communicate with your child’s teacher to stay informed of your child’s strengths and learning opportunities. Secondary, take advantage of the learning resources and tools your child’s school and the state provides; they can make a big difference in reinforcing learning at home. Finally, encourage your child to read for at least thirty minutes every day. A daily reading habit not only improves academic skills, but also builds confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.”
