Business Spotlight With Chef Cedric Frazier, Owner Luxuria, A Cedric Frazier Experience in DeSoto

By: Keeshala Henderson

SDM– Take us back to the beginning of your journey and inspiration for becoming a luxury traveling private chef?

Cedric Frazier– Growing up in South Carolina, the kitchen was the heart of our home. It was where we celebrated life’s moments, both big and small. My family taught me that food is more than just sustenance—it’s a way to connect with others, to show love, and to create memories. As I pursued my education, I realized that my passion wasn’t just in cooking, but in crafting experiences that leave a lasting impact. The concept of becoming a luxury traveling chef and offering boutique catering came from this deep-seated desire to bring that warmth, that sense of connection, to people wherever they are. It’s about making every meal an event, something special and personal, tailored to the individual tastes and stories of my clients. This path wasn’t just a career choice; it was a calling that grew out of my roots, my family, and my love for creating unforgettable moments through food.

SDM– You have a notable list of distinguished and highly esteemed clientele across the globe, ranging from celebrities to dignitaries. How did you attain this monumental recognition and how vital is marketing and branding for a business?

Cedric Frazier– Building a global clientele has been an incredible journey, one that I’m truly grateful for. It started with a simple commitment: to pour my heart into every dish and every event, no matter who the client was. Over time, that dedication began to speak for itself. Word of mouth from clients who felt truly cared for and valued played a huge role in expanding my reach. But beyond that, it was essential to present my work in a way that reflected the passion and quality I put into it. Marketing and branding aren’t just about getting your name out there—they are about telling your story, sharing your values, and showing the world what makes you unique. For me, it’s always been about authenticity. My brand reflects who I am and the love I have for what I do. That’s what resonates with people, and that’s what has helped me connect with such esteemed clients across the globe.

SDM– What were some of the biggest challenges you faced in your industry or starting up and how did you overcome them?

Cedric Frazier– Starting out in the culinary industry came with its fair share of challenges, but one of the most difficult was overcoming self-doubt. Entering a space where clients expect nothing but the absolute best was intimidating. There were times when I questioned whether I could meet those expectations, especially when I compared myself to more established chefs.
To overcome this, I had to remind myself why I started—my passion for creating experiences through food and the belief that I had something unique to offer. I focused on honing my craft, making sure that every dish, every presentation was a reflection of my best work. I also surrounded myself with a strong support system—family, mentors, and colleagues—who believed in me even when I had moments of doubt. Their encouragement helped me push through the tough times.
Another challenge was building credibility and a client base from scratch. I had to be patient and persistent, taking every opportunity to showcase my work, even if it meant starting with smaller events and gradually working way my up. Each experience taught me valuable lessons, and with every satisfied client, my confidence grew. Over time, word of mouth and a reputation for excellence helped me build a clientele that trusted me to deliver extraordinary experiences. It wasn’t easy, but by staying true to my passion and continuously learning, I was able to overcome those early challenges and grow my business into what it is today.

SDM– You have impeccably mastered marrying the art of cooking and an incomparable personalized experience for over 25 years! Elevating to even greater heights, you recently opened your latest brilliant venture, Luxuria, in DeSoto, Texas. Tell us about your inimitable concept and stunningly elegant location.

Cedric Frazier– Luxuria is a dream that has been years in the making. I wanted to create a space that truly embodies the essence of luxury and personalized service. Luxuria is the realization of that vision—a place where every detail, from the ambiance to the menu, is designed to offer an unforgettable experience.
The concept behind Luxuria is rooted in the belief that dining is not just about eating; it’s about creating memories. I wanted to create a venue where guests could immerse themselves in an atmosphere of elegance and sophistication, where every meal feels like a special occasion. The location itself is a blend of luxury design and timeless charm, with spaces that are both intimate and grand, allowing us to host everything from intimate private dinners for two to events for up to 30 guests.
What makes Luxuria truly inimitable is the personalized touch we bring to every event. Whether it’s a wedding, a corporate gathering, or a simple dinner among friends, we tailor each experience to reflect the unique tastes and desires of our clients. Our goal is to make every guest feel special, to provide them with an experience that goes beyond just the food and leaves them with lasting memories.
Luxuria is more than just a venue—it’s a space where my passion for culinary arts and my commitment to creating exceptional experiences come together. It’s a place where every detail is designed with care, and where we strive to exceed expectations, making every event a celebration of life’s finest moments.

SDM– Lastly, if you could go back in time and speak to your former self, what would you share as key lessons you have learned throughout your entrepreneurial journey that will serve as pivotal advice to aspiring entrepreneurs?

Cedric Frazier– If I could go back and have a conversation with my younger self, I would start by telling him to trust the journey, even when it’s tough. There were times when the path seemed uncertain, and I was tempted to take shortcuts or give up when things got hard. But I’ve learned that those challenges are what shape you. They teach you resilience, patience and the value of hard work.
I would also tell myself to embrace every opportunity to learn—whether from successes or failures. Every experience, even the setbacks, offers a lesson that can make you better if you’re willing to learn from it. I’ve come to understand that growth happens not just in moments of triumph, but in the times when you pick yourself up after a fall.
Another key lesson is the importance of surrounding yourself with the right people. Build a network of supporters—family, friends, mentors—who believe in your vision and push you to be your best. Their support will carry you through the tough times and celebrate with you in the good times.
Lastly, I would remind my younger self to stay true to his passion. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and lose sight of why you started in the first place. But it’s that passion, that love for what you do, that will keep you going when the road gets rough. Never lose sight of it, because it’s what will carry you through the highs and lows of your journey.
