C. Lee Transportation CEO, Curtis Corbins Pens New Book, SOW WHAT! Don’t Make Mistakes! Make Moves! Don’t Miss His Upcoming Book Signing Event At The Dec With Roland Parrish, Willis Johnson and Kiyundra Jones!
SDM: Curtis, you have been busy these days! You have a very successful transportation company that’s keeping you going a hundred miles an hour, but you make time to write a book! What motivated you to write this book now?
CL: I was motivated to write this book to encourage small business owners and urban entrepreneurs who may face the same barriers I encountered on my journey. Over my 10 years in business, I’ve had many entrepreneurs come to me for advice and encouragement, and I’ve been blessed with opportunities to share my story. Time and time again, people told me, “Curtis, you need to write a book.”At first, I didn’t see myself as an author. But as God would have it, here we are today. I wrote this book in hopes that it becomes a practical playbook—offering real tools for everyday, hardworking entrepreneurs like myself.
SDM: How long did it take you to write it? Have you been thinking about writing a book before?
CL: Between starting and stopping, it took about eight months to complete. The idea had been on my mind for nearly two years, but I had to confront something I talk about in the book—procrastination.
Procrastination leads to the assassination of dreams and visions. Once I accepted that, I stopped delaying and started writing.
SDM: So tell us about the book.
CL: We live in a time where obstacles are inevitable—whether in business or in life. That’s why it’s critical to develop a mindset that says, “So what? Don’t make excuses—make moves.”
This book shares my journey from homelessness to building a successful transportation business. I begin with my personal story and the role faith has played in my life, then shift to what I believe is the most important factor in any journey: mindset.
I explore the daily mindset required to succeed—one rooted in courage, persistence, determination, and a warrior spirit. I also emphasize the importance of being properly “dressed”—not just outwardly, but spiritually and mentally—because the battles we face are real. If you don’t understand the battle, you’re already defeated.
The book also covers the power of networking—how your network shapes your net worth—and the importance of surrounding yourself with mentors, peers, collaborators, and gatekeepers. I address procrastination, failure, and the reality that while failure is part of the journey, adopting a failure mindset is not.
I also speak on the power of choice and how every decision helps shape our destiny. One of the most important chapters focuses on breaking generational curses—something we all must confront. For me, that curse was settling for mediocrity.
Ultimately, this book is designed to give readers “food for thought” and equip them with the tools needed to overcome life’s obstacles, personally and professionally.
SDM: Wow! This sounds like it will be a New York Times Best Seller! What are the main thoughts you want readers to take away after reading your book?
CL: I want readers to walk away knowing they already have what it takes to move forward. The goal is to instill confidence, determination, persistence, and a refusal to be defeated.
For every problem, there is a solution—and for every excuse, there’s a move waiting on the other side. The lasting thought should be: I can accomplish anything, no matter what I’m going through.
The question is—so what?
SDM: Tell me about this title? What made you choose it?
CL: The title comes from my time experiencing homelessness. There were days I felt defeated, like God had given up on me. But one day, I woke up and told myself, “So what?”
So what if I’m homeless? That doesn’t define my future. So what if I don’t have much? I can start with what I have.
That shift in mindset changed everything. I stopped making excuses and started making moves—and that’s what launched my journey from homelessness to success.
SDM: To really get this book out there, you have put together this great event at The DEC on April 30th, from 5pm until 8. It’s a FREE event and you will have the likes of business leaders Roland Parrish and Willis Johnson there in a fireside chat of sorts with the wonderful Oak Cliff Chamber President Kiyundra Jones as Chat Host. Tell us about this event and who should attend?
CL: This event is one I’ll never forget. The theme centers around “empowering the entrepreneur engine.” Back in the day, cars had carburetors that needed to be primed to get moving—and that’s exactly what this event is about: priming the engine.
The atmosphere will be filled with energy, empowerment, and encouragement. I’m bringing that same energy—one rooted in discipline and action. Our panel will feature successful individuals who started from the bottom and worked their way up, offering real insight and inspiration.
It will also be a powerful networking opportunity—connecting with new partners, resources, and opportunities. More than anything, it marks a new level in my journey as I prepare to share my story across the country and inspire future entrepreneurs.
My goal is for every attendee to leave with a book in hand and the tools needed to keep moving forward.
SDM: Although the event is FREE, do you encourage people to sign up to attend? If so, where should they go to register?
CL: Visit noexcusetour.com and click the Eventbrite link, or text “I plan to attend” to (469) 818-7989.
SDM: Who should read your book and why?
CL: Anyone dealing with fear in their personal or business life. Entrepreneurs who understand that failure is part of the process—and are willing to fail their way to success.
It’s for those who need something to lean on during setbacks—a reminder to keep going. Simply put, it’s for anyone who needs that extra push of perseverance.
SDM: Curtis, I’m excited about your new book and the event! I can’t wait to go! For those who would like to purchase your new book, where can it be found?
CL: The book is available at noexcusetour.com.
SDM: We have covered a lot here Curtis, is there anything you would like to leave with our readers? What would you like to leave with the reader?
CL: No matter what obstacles you face, keep moving. Every setback is a setup for a comeback.
And always remember: So what? Don’t make excuses—make moves.
