Amber Givens Makes History As The First Black Female Elected As Dallas District Attorney

SDM Exclusive

Many said the odds were against her. She prevailed despite of the vicious attacks. The day of the election, an article was published that could have torpedoed a lesser individual. But Amber stood strong with those in her camp rooting for her and praying for her to win. And she did. Amber was out campaigning one very cold day in December and she knocked on my door, not knowing whose house it was. I came to the door quite dumbfounded that anyone would be out campaigning in such weather, but there she stood and I listened to everything she had to say, cold and all. It was her perseverance and fighting that finally brought over the finish line as the victor. That type of relentlessness and determination made all the difference. Now she stands tall as the first elected Black Female District Attorney in the history of Dallas. Congratulations Amber, it wasn’t given to you, it was earned by you.
